“We went to this restaurant on a premiun Friday evening.”
As part of the Japanese Government's never ending program to encourage work and life balance, the last Friday of each month is called a premium Friday, and workers are recommended to either take the day off or leave early afternoon. My friend told me that it had been difficult to book anywhere in th...e popular Shimbashi district. This restaurant is one of a restaurant chain specializing in soba izakaya, meaning a soba noodle restaurant also serving other food that go well with alcoholic drinks. We started with assorted sashimi, a couple of snacks including iburigakko (pickled white radish, a speciality of Akita Prefecture) with cheese, yuba (been curd wafer) sashimi and a seafood salad all to share. My personal view was that there was nothing so special. They have a good selection of sake and shouchuu priced slightly above average. We finished the meal with a combination of soba. This is their main specialty where you can try different types of soba noodles, such as white, dark or country style (inaka). Perhaps it's better to order their course menu with unlimited drinks.
