“for all Uni lovers”
Hanagakoi Restaurant. B1 – 1 – 1 – 8 Shibuya, Shibuyaku Tokyo. My Japanese friend has taken me there about 3 weeks ago. The place is in the basement of the large building and easy to miss. Hence, I am including the address. You walk downstairs and are offered options of open space tables or bamboo ...screen sheltered ‘private rooms’. You can smoke there. The food is sublime. Really! You start with a bite of chicken ball in Miso broth, a rice ball wrapped with salmon, slice of cucumber and salmon roe garnish and equally small piece of soft Tofu with little Uni on it. 3 bites – all so different and this is just the beginning. Next, the exquisite Sashimi came and when I thought that was it … the main attraction arrived. There was a Hot Pot burner at our table. We were served more super thinly slices of fish, chicken, Prawn heads, lettuce and radish, which we were to dip in Uni broth boiling in that pot. It was really lovely feast. When we were done, the owner of the Restaurant got us seated at armchairs next to the stairs, while he went out to hail Taxi for us. Which was absolutely unnecessary, but this is how things are done in Japan. I highly recommend this place if you can find it.

“Quick lunch, nothing exciting”
We had just finished a long morning walking tour and were heading to Shibuya Crossing and wanted to have some lunch. We bumped into this place. English menu made it easy, but the food was nothing great.
