I moved to Osaka a month ago and some friends came to visit me from overseas. I was looking for a casual restaurant where they can have the full japanese experience. I choose Torame Yokocho based on Tripadvisor rating. I like the concept where you can choose different type of food in the same place,... it gives some flexibility to my guests. We decided to sit near the italian stall because they had seats available. The gentlemen asked us our orders and we ordered 5 beers from his stall. Honestly, we were more interested about the Japanese food than italian. He came back with our drinks order. My friends and I, decided on the food to order, I went to the okonomiyaki stall and order from them. I asked him if he can bring to our table not far from the Italian stall and he said sure, no problem. The waiter from the italian stall came back and asked us if we wanted to order from him. We said that we were waiting for japanese food but we will get another round of drinks from him. It seems ok but 20 minutes later, he came back. He explained to us that we must order italian food from him. I explained to him that I thought the concept was that we can order from any stalls. I apology to him. I suggested we can order one pizza from him. He became hostile and insisted that every single person on the table order one italian food from him on the top of the drinks we've already ordered. I read on tripadvisor that we can order from any stall. A japanese couple near us ordered from Sashimis stall with no issue. Suddenly, I wasn't sure anymore. Maybe, I was wrong. We have already ordered 2 rounds of drinks and I didn't want to order 5 pizzas. Again, I apologized to him. Maybe i didnt get the concept. I tried another approach, I suggested that we pay him and we moved on a table, near the place, we ordered the okonomiyakis. He wasn't happy by my request, I could see on his face. He told me the price of the 10 drinks in a rude way. I was upset, I paid him and left the place. I felt so bad and ashamed in front of my friends. The evening was ruined. After reading again the tripadvisor comments about the concept, I think the guy wanted to take advantage of us. After this bad experience, I would suggest to avoid the place, I am convinced it's a tourist trap.

“Fun, quirky, Japanese dining & drinking experience”
We stumbled upon this place by accident! This is a large room with small restaurants each with a different theme. You can order from any (the menu is basically a book of menus from each place) but must hand in your table number (there is a pile of tags hanging from a hook at your seat). There is a l...arge range of food available from sushi to okonomiyaki! There is also some very unusual dishes such as chicken sashimi and a whole bar dedicated to offal! The staff are very friendly, we were the only tourists in the place and the atmosphere was great!

“Very good surprise”
We went to this place, thinking it was a restaurant, but it's actually like 5 or 6 restaurant. So you can go as a group and each one can order from a different place. It can be crowded, and it's full smoking free area. So make sure you walk around afterwards to get rid of the smell. Prices are chea...p. We had noodles with beef and cabbage at the restaurant in the bottom. The tables have a grill to keep everything warm.

“Fast, friendly and quirky.”
In the hustle and bustle of Osaka we were looking for dinner and came across Torame Yokocho. Inside the building is a selection of stalls selling different types of Japanese food. Take a seat at a stall and order the speciality, you can even order from other stalls. You can also move from stall to s...tall. It's like a game of musical chairs but the prize is food. Lots on offer here, okonomiyaki, sushi, fried fare, etc. it's all fresh and meals are very cheap, so you can try lots of Japanese dishes. We mostly ate sashimi from the first stall on the left as you enter the building, it was delicious. We also had fried chicken, and some sake. This isn't fine dining, the food is simple and tasty and the place is a lot of fun.
