“Delightful service and pleasant food”
Okinawa is somewhat of a culinary crossroad where Chinese meets Japanese. The Japanese food that had been presented at meals did not have the same refinement that you would find in Tokyo. Also, there are not many good restaurants that have websites or ratings. So, it was with some trepidation tha...t I trusted my hosts for the evening (they also being strangers to Okinawa), when we arrived at Saburo. It is a delightful restaurant. Having now seen photos by other reviewers, I can confirm that it is exactly as you see it. Although, the little ladies who take orders and serve the food appear not to understand English, they have enough to laugh at / with you. Three of us chose the set menu for 4 - it was sufficient. Sashimi was fresh and well presented. The pumpkin soup was creamy, with little prizes of prawn hiding beneath the surface. Spiny lobster was nicely cooked, although a little challenging to eat with chop sticks. The sushi was plentiful and recognisably comprising of eel and the usual suspects. Overall, a delightful evening with attentive and helpful ladies, who you would love to have as your grandmother.
