“Tsubame is a good choice if you're not sure where to eat”
I've been to three different locations of Tsubame Grill (this one in Takashimaya Times Square, the one in Lumine Bldg. Shinjuku West Exit and the one In Lumine Bldg. in Ogikubo) and they were all equally good. For the quality of food it's very reasonable. I was expecting to pay more here because o...f the location, but the prices are the same in every location. Their signature dishes are different kinds of Japanese Hamburger steaks and my German husband really enjoyed the tasty sauce. Other dishes such as Scallops Croquettes are also good. They have good lunch menu that is a very good deal. We were there around 5pm on a weekday and got a table right away, but I can imagine the place would be crowded around lunch time and on weekends.

“Rich flavor, every bite melts in your mouth, best Japanese Hamburger Steak.”
Steaks are good and nice but in Japan they have this sub culture called Hamburger Steak and its amazing. I have tried many restaurants. The one that was better and my top pick closed years ago so not Tsubume Grill is my number 1.

“Relaxing Last Night in Tokyo Dinner”
In 2015, I had the pleasure of having dinner twice at the Shinagawa Station location. This year, since I was staying in Shinjuku, and wanting something less deep fried for my final dinner in Japan, I decided to try the Shinjuku branch of this franchise, located on the 13th Floor of the Takashimaya ...Times Square complex near the station (and across from my hotel). As expected, it did not disappoint. Ordered the signature Tsubame Grill Hamburger Steak Dinner, adding a tomato salad for a starter. Like in my 2015 review of the Shinagawa branch, the tomato salad was a skinless whole tomato, covered in a thin Thousand Island-style dressing, with a small pocket of chicken or tuna salad at the bottom. The hamburger steak arrived in a foil pouch with a small potato, on a extremely hot cast iron platter (you are firmly cautioned by the server about that). Puncturing the foil reveals a mound of ground beef, surrounded by a boiling lake of gravy, topped with a piece of stew meat. The steak was fork-tender, flavorful, and very delicious. And there was enough gravy afterwards to enjoy with the potato. At the time of my visit, there was a new menu item that was just like the popular hamburger steak dinner, except apparently made with a more higher-end cut of beef. I thought the regular version was perfect enough as it was, and quite filling as well. Very happy that the taste and quality is still top notch, no matter what location I go to.
