“Potentially my favourite burger globally”

The burgers here taste fantastic, potentially my favourite globally especially combined with pineapple and avocado. I never miss a visit when close to Tokyo Station!

“Gets a little worse each time”

Stopped by for lunch on a week day. It was busy but not jammed. Register was really disorganized and the kitchen was chaotic. Ordered a burger and fries ... not the most complex meal. Told it would take 10 minutes, which is fine. Thirty minutes later, no food, no follow up. Had to go back and ...ask twice. The kitchen and bouncer were really chaotic. Ultimately, the burgers are pretty good, but the service is a nightmare. Go elsewhere for less frustration.

“Good burgers: Skip the takeout and eat in, but be prepared for less-than-friendly staff”

Reviewed 03/Apr/2019

SUMMARY: The food is good (with some caveats for takeout), the staff service is a bit rough for my liking, prices are on the high side but not unreasonable given the size of the burger and quality of food. The location is ideal and the restaurant itself is clean but not all seats are easily access...ible for those with disabilities. If my experience is any indicator, you'll receive better service at other Kua'aina locations in Tokyo, but the food will be similar. If you must eat at this location, for the best experience avoid during lunch hours (~11:30am-2:00pm) and skip the takeout for the best experience. DETAILED REPORT Stopped by for lunch the other day, my third time here over the last 12-18 months. The location is the best part about this place, being in the Marunouchi Building across the plaza from Tokyo station. It's a touch inconvenient to reach the 6th floor, especially during lunchtime when elevators are jammed, but the central location makes it fairly easy to reach from most places in the city. There are several styles of burgers and sandwiches plus sides; some are offered in sets or combinations. I've never eaten anything but the burgers here. They are solid (literally), served in a variety of flavors and styles and come in two sizes: big and bigger. The food is cooked after you order, so it's fresh ... but slow to arrive. This is not fast food. For the money, it's not bad. I love their avocado burgers, but I'm not a fan of the small French fries ... that said, I confess I ate every last one. In short, you're not likely to be disappointed by the food if you eat in. Takeout is also an option, but here's the rub ... by the time I received my takeout order last time, the food was cold. Great for sandwiches, but not so much for burgers. However, if you’re doing takeout, be aware that the store won't let takeout-only customers skip ahead in the line (in contrast with many other shops offering take away), so either way you'll be waiting for a table to open in order to place your order ... which could be a long wait (>30 minutes during lunch time) just to get a takeout burger. A bit of a miss by management... Completely unlike other Kua 'Aina locations I have tried in Tokyo, the service from the staff is quite sharp. :( Given the heavy lunch traffic, they've hired a guy to act as a sort of bouncer. His function is to slow down the flow of customers, making it take longer to work your way through the line--even when many seats are clearly open. Unfortunately, like any bouncer, he does his job in a pretty gruff way. Now, the Japanese (and every visitor I've ever seen to Japan) are very practiced at waiting in line respectfully, so there's just no need: The rough attitude (it's burgers, dude, not Fort Knox!!) was a little out of place. I saw several puzzled faces - Japanese and otherwise - wondering why the unfriendly service. This guy would be shocked to visit any of the Kua'aina locations in Hawaii and see how laid back and friendly they are, but I digress… Rough service notwithstanding, the restaurant itself was clean. One note - the tables are packed in so closely it could be difficult for those with disabilities to access the seats or tables in the interior of the restaurant. Some of the tables on the edges of the restaurant may work. You could ask the bouncer for assistance, if needed. If you're craving a bit of Haleiwa, you can do a lot worse than Kua'aina. My suggestion would be to visit another Tokyo location as the service is much warmer and friendlier. If you must go to the Marunouchi Building shop, for best results, suggest eating in but avoiding lunch time (11:30am-2pm). Hope this helps ... safe travels!

“Good cheeseburgers ”

This is a good place to visit when your in the mood for a good cheeseburger. I had a classic cheeseburger and my wife had the avocado burger. Both were good. They have a pretty large menu to choose from so don't think it's just a burger place. It seems the avocado burger is very popular as everyone ...around us was eating one. Kevin
