“Okonomiyaki cooked by yourself ”
Staying in Japan, we had to include Okonomiyaki on the must-eat list. We walked around Kabukicho and found this restaurant. It’s 7pm on Monday and we went to the 8th floor at the Komatsu Building and was seated right away. The staff were nice but they didn’t speak English at all. We ordered the squi...d and the seafood Okonomiyaki. Then we had a side order of squids and the pork belly. The fun part of the meal was that we had to cook by ourselves. There was a step by step instruction in English for us to follow, which was super easy. We made two perfect Okonomiyaki! We had a lot of fun eating at this restaurant. We spent ¥6000 for three people.

“Make your own Okonomiyaki”
Lots of fun, very reasonably priced and you get to cook your dinner to your specific liking. My only criticism is that the seats on the higher floor are mats on the floor (not good for those of us with old knees) and the smoke from the grill and the customers builds up to a thick fog.

We ordered both okonomiyaki and yaki-soba, which were great. Prices were around 950-1100 yen for one okonomiyaki, which for Tokyo isn’t all that bad. You have to do the cooking yourselves but they have an English menu that outlines the steps. We arrived early (~6pmish) so had no trouble getting a ta...ble, there was a line from about 6:30pm though.

We came spontaneously without a reservation. At first we went up to the second floor. They sent us up to the seventh floor and from there we were sent to the 8th. Only to be ordered back down to the second. Quite annoying. Finally after a short wait we got a table. The waitresses were very friendly... but didn’t speak a word of English. Thankfully the menu was English. Unfortunately on this day the all you can eat option was not available. No idea why. So we ordered okonomyaki a la carte. Twice with cheese, one with ham and one with squid. Each around 900 yen. The beer and sake were okay. The gin tonic wasn’t. Just tasted absolutely wrong and as if there was no gin in there. The portions were big... but. They’ve run out of pickled ginger!! An absolute key ingredient for okonomyaki to us. Really really disappointing. Without ginger it didn’t really taste good. Boring. The biggest problem was the really bad ventilation on the second floor. Our eyes started running soon and my stepmom started coughing badly. Not really a recommendation all together.

Tasty and fun to try this out. The staff helped us even though the English was bad. The smoke really set on our clothes and hair. Other than that it was nice.
