“Super meal cooked well”
A colleague and I dined at the Hinaiya on our last evening in Tokyo. We enjoyed the beer and the food, which was all freshly cooked to order. Especially nice was the raw cabbage served as a side dish. A great way to accompany the chicken skewers of various forms. Also had mushrooms and pepper sk...ewers. Everything was great.

“Excellent grilled chickens”
Grilled chicken, Yakitori in Japanese was extremely fresh and well cooked. Oyako-don, egg and cooked chicken over rice was delicious. The price is reasonable.

“Expensive and unhelpful”
The chicken thigh was 90% cartilage (and nothing but the chicken thigh) and hardly no meat for close to 3000 yen - uneatable. When we remarked this to the waiter we still had to pay full price for 1 piece of meatless chicken thigh.

Local place near Shinbashi station, we usually stope there as I stay closeby during my business trips. Nothing special but neither too terrible, good prices.

One evening during our recent visit to Tokyo, I was overcome with the need for some quality yakitori. Of course there are (almost) countless quality and well priced restaurants in this city doing amazing food of all types, but this night it had to be yakitori. Furthermore, after a big day of sight...seeing, it needed to be near our hotel - the very stay-able Park Hotel in the Shiodome area. An online search produced the Ginza Hinaiya, just across the street from our accommodation. When I say "just across the street", it is not that simple to locate the exact street and exact access point in this amazing area of subterranean and above ground walkways. After careful planning we determined which floor of the hotel building we should exit, and which combination of roads we had to cross. It took a bit of brain strain, and I was in need of a recuperative sake when we arrived at the discreet and cosy eatery. The staff were welcoming - English was spoken so assistance with ordering was at hand, and the sake list extensive with a host able to make recommendations based on my taste. Sitting at the counter, we were able to view at close quarters the chef behind a perspex screen expertly prepare our meal. The yakitori was sensational. A truly wonderful dining experience.
