Went in to this restaurant on the off chance as it looked really nice. Very typical Japanese style seating and service. They have an English menu translation so this made things easy. The chicken breast option is too small for 2 people so order double the pork portions are good but again order 2 in ...total, or double ups. They bring you hot coals to the table for you to cook your own, similar to Korean style but this is good as its part of the fun. Staff were very attentive and service was great. Prices were also reasonable given the kind of meal this was. Given the chance would go again without hesitation.

“Excellent Yakitori Restaurant”
This restaurant in the very attractive Maranouchi Brick Square is located amongst a plethora of dining choices. It is an excellent place to get tasty yakitori with some interesting sides that complement that main attraction. It is just a five minute walk from the Maranouchi side of Tokyo Station. ...We were treated to this place by one of our distributors. I had never been to the Maranouchi Brick Square complex before but was very impressed by its lovely modernity. There were several shops and restaurants that were housed in this commercial center and I would not be reaching too much to characterize it is as elegant. Akira was located below ground level. We arrived before our hosts but had a difficult time identifying that it was the proper place. Not only was there a dearth of English signage, the staff spoke little English. In fact, when I asked one of them whether it was Akira, they indicated it was not. I am sure it was my pronunciation though I am familiar enough with Japanese to normally get it right. Fortunately, our friends arrived before we started wandering off in a different direction wondering where we might have gone wrong. There was a group of eight of us and the restaurant accommodated us very nicely. We had a table by the window and were quite happy with our surroundings. The service was very good as I have come to expect in Japan. Our hosts ordered various cuts of chicken including some that we grilled ourselves. All of the meat they served was terrific. But there were also some interesting sides including a dish of grilled avocados with what tasted like a maple glaze. This was something I had never had before and my colleagues and I were quite enamored with the taste. There were also several other quality vegetable sides to supplement the meat very nicely. I did not see a menu or a bill so I cannot comment on the value of the meal. But the quality of the food was unquestionably excellent. If you fancy Yakitori, I would highly recommend giving this place a try.
