“An Expansive Experiene”
It was first time our nieve visit Japan so we wanted her to experience fuku, blow fish. Fukuji has best reputation so we reserved through a Tokyo agent for dinner for 5 pax Without first checked out the prices before we booked, we were shocked of the prices: mixed menu started at ¥35,000 (US$300) s...o it would have costed us total close to US$1,600 had we ordered such. We ordered a la carte: sashimi for 2 costed $150 so we the nabe hot pot. All-in, we spent $900 for 5 … and walked out still hungry. Must say the fuku was best, not "fish-like" Moral of story: worth it for the experience of trying out the best fuku if money is not the issue.

We always go to this restaurant when ever we are in Tokyo. We have survived eating fugu till this day. The last time we went on Sunday the 28th October together with my daughter and her fiance. It was the first time they had eaten fugu.... and they were very worried. Still, they survived the ordeal.... Great fugu as always

“Once in a lifetime experience!”
In general I don't eat seafood because I don't normally like the texture but I couldn't pass up this opportunity. My boyfriend is the one who really wanted to try all the weird Japanese food options. The taxi driver dropped us off at the location where his GPS showed the address to be. However, w...e didn't see anything that resembled the restaurant so ended up walking around the whole block before taking a guess at walking up a flight of stairs that actually looked like they went to residences. My guess was accurate though as we stumbled upon the front door on the 3rd floor. It was a very small little place that added to the experience. We ordered 1 plate of fugu fried and 1 broiled fugu, each had two pieces. My boyfriend was trying unsuccessfully to use chopsticks to eat it when a young waitress came over and said it was okay to eat it with his hands. I very much enjoyed it - tasted and felt sort of like frog legs. Not at all flaky like the typical fish texture and not even an tiny bit of fishy taste at all. I would eat it again if it weren't so expensive. I understand and appreciate the process and the reason it supports those prices but I didn't like it enough to pay that much on a frequent basis. I saw it as a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience. Nothing at all wrong with it or the experience other than just the high cost, which I was aware of before going so I was mentally prepared.

Last nigh, my wife and I visited Fugu Fukuji restaturant. Everyone was amazing and hospitable, food was outstanding and delicious. Chef / owner Takeshi Yasuge came personally to greet us. He's a wonderful person. Thank you very much, everyone!

“Great experience for a full fugu meal”
Having visited Japan for almost 2 decades now (despite being a few years over 20), this was my first experience having a full fugu meal. The place has a Michelin star. But more importantly how is the food? I had always heard that fugu was more about the whole notion of eating this "dangerous" fish..., more so than actually the taste of the fish. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the various courses on offer. From the fugu sashimi, particularly the fugu skin and innards, which to me was a lot more interesting than just the fish meat. Washed down very pleasantly with some sake. No meal is complete without the ending "rice/congee", which was well done and enjoyable. Would definitely have again for the experience and also the unique taste of the fish.
