“Delicious teapot soup + rice”
If you are looking for a light meal that is both healthy and tasty, we would recommend this place located in the basement of Shin Marunouchi Building in the Marunouchi area. For a reasonable price and some variety (see picture), you get a bowl of rice with your topping of choice, a teapot of dashi ...soup (refillable), a small portion of tofu, Japnese pickles and a side dish. You are meant to pour some of the soup into the bowl of rice so what you get after mixing everything up is a bowl of rice porridge. You also get to choose how much rice you want (150g, 180g or 280g) - no extra charge for the larger portions. Some of the toppings we have tried are the steamed chicken slices + egg, lightly battered shrimp and scallops and grilled salmon. If you want something less healthy on the side to go with your meal, you can also order some deep fried food such as fried chicken and pork and potato croquette (see picture). Orders and payment are made through a machine located just to the right of the entrance. It's cash only. You the get a ticket which you hand over to one of the servers.
