“I particularly enjoyed the rich and savory uppu curry.”
We searched the web for a good Indian restaurant to have dinner in Kinshichou and were attracted to this restaurant. There are many Nepalese Indian restaurants in the Chiba area but we had not come across a South Indian restaurant. The restaurant is only a couple of minutes' walk from JR Kinshichou... Station which is not that far away from Asakusa, The restaurant looked more like a pretty coffee shop than an Indian restaurant to me. We were investigating the menu outside when a person came to the doorstep and advised us that they were fully booked from 8pm and we needed to leave before then but that we were welcome if that was ok. There was plenty of time so we went in. The menu was extensive and quite different from the menus we are used to. It was our first visit so we asked for the non-vegetarian set curry menu to share, which includes two curries of your choice out of chicken, keema, mutton and fish, two vegetable curries that change daily, tandoori chicken, salad and rice and naan plus a lassi drink. The curry portions although small, were all different from what we are used to and enjoyable. It was so good that we ordered additionally a mint marinated tandoori chicken and their chicken uppu curry which was promoted as the chef's specialty. I particularly enjoyed the rich and savory uppu curry with large portions of chicken, which I now understand originates from an area called Chettinad. The total bill with a bottle of beer and a glass of wine was very reasonable for dinner, under 5,000 yen in total. Guess we will come again to try some more different dishes.

“Authentic Southern Indian Quinsine”
Venus had a broad menu of Southern Indian food and they did a good job in quality and presentation. The place and food and the staff has a genuine authentic feel to it and if you are looking for something a little spicy and different this is a good place in Kinshiko. It is one street back from the s...treets that fronts onto the railway line and two streets east of the station..
