“This is a good place visited by locals”
We are here sirloin beef and macquerel with side dishes and the good was good and fresh. We did not reserve and got a table upstairs that turned out to be a nice experience!

“Pleasant experience overall, especially because of the price/quality ratio. But definitely room for improvement.”
After seeing this restaurant being positively reviewed online for a pretty reasonable price, we were excited but didn't have too much high expectations. After entering we instantly got a table for 2 without needing a reservation which was a great thing. Even though we knew Japan sometimes has a tabl...e reservatìon fee and also a appetizer fee we were quite disappointed with the appetizer itself. It was alright, but didn't have really anything really memorable. The table we got was a bit small and missed a certain amount of privacy and the loud spanish tourists behind us were quite noisy which caused a bit of annoyance. This could've easily been solved by hanging some curtains or just by turning down the music just a tiny bit. The waitress spoke pretty poor English but managed to give us what we ordered anyway. We started off with 2 starters which were pretty mediocre and even though we are meat lovers the semi vegetarian dishes they were quite alright. What disappointed us the most was the amount of meat compared to the vegetables, since we ordered a pork and vegatable dish. We also thought the 2 person table we got was a bit too small especially since we ordered multiple starters. We also were missing a button on the table to order since the waitresses seemed quite busy and we were eager to order. During this meal we drank a bottle of red wine which was quite decent for sure. The pork soup however tasted more like fish and the pork was hard to find. The broth itself was quite shallow but did its work for a cheap dish. Overall the price/quality ratio was good, but it's not something we would particularly recommend to anyone who would want to have a fine dine experience. However, if you don't want to spend too much money and still have a decent meal, this will be the place for you!

“Excellent food, avoid upstairs tatami”
The food here was great -- fairly simple but fresh and tasty. Only downside was our seating which was upstairs in the tatami room. This felt quite disconnected from the rest of the restaurant, had less atmosphere and bad acoustics.

We went a little overboard ordering here so our bill was a bit high but everything was so delicious we couldn't help ourselves. Unlike many places, they offer yakitori, kushiage (crumbed and fried things on sticks), and other dishes as well. Highlights included the karaage (fried chicken nugs), tsuk...une (grilled chicken meatballs on sticks), grilled chicken hearts, grilled pork loin, and some of the fried vegetables. I can't even remember everything but it was all so, so good. The sake tasting flight was also great.

“Awesome finds in Kyoto (3 restaurants in total)”
We loved the Apollo’s, we found the first one a small izakaya with a contemporary take on Japanese fare with a somewhat Italian influence while wandering the streets of gion district, it was amazing. In fact, So great we went to their sister restaurant the next night which was a more traditional iza...kaya style. The food was absolutely divine and creative and wonderful! The staff was awesome and we will be back on our next trip to kyoto. One of the chefs was from the Bay Area and was super friendly and interesting and gave us several great trips for the area. Each dish was carefully curated and as beautiful as it was delicious. You must eat here, very reasonably priced for what you get!
