“Interesting food, subtle taste”

This restaurant is 10 minutes walking distance from dontonburi and a short walk from subway line. This ground level three Michelin star chefs counter dining with one table for four warm greeting as we came in no photos are allowed of the chef and the chef in the kitchen. Sat down the chef table and... offered the drinks the drinks pairing with two saki, and a glass of red wine looks like good value. We had a glass of champagne in addition. We were asked to choose the mains which we choose Eel. The food was good, very subtle in taste. None of the dishes were strong or overpowering. We started off with a selection of 5 different mouth / bite size dishes. All interesting especially the hair noodles and the Green sauce dish. This was followed by second course: the fish in broth, fresh, very mild flavours. The third course was another fish dish with a whole side of Roe- both cooked beautifully. The fourth - another white fish with small Okra. The fifth: was the mains of eel which was rolled into what looked like a danish- beautifully presented. The sixth: a piece of fried fish. The seven is a piece of fish in thick broth The eight was the rice with pickles and miso. Finally the desert : fruits in pear with gin added to it. Service was very polite efficient. There is an additional 10% service and 11% tax to the base value. Found the pair drinks package of good value.

“An amazing culinary experience”

We asked the concierge in our hotel to book a table a few weeks before we visited Osaka and I am glad we did. An amazing restaurant with 16 seats I think. We had seats at the kitchen so we were able to watch the chef and see how much care he took with everything he did. The food was outstanding. W...e went with the sake pairing and enjoyed 7 courses of amazing food. Each courses was explained to us by the staff. All the dishes were stunning but a special mention for the spare ribs, beef and the salmon, absolutely phenomenal. We will add Taian to our list of amazing restaurants we have visited and I would recommend to anyone who visits Osaka.

“Excellent restaurant!”

We went to Taian for a celebratory dinner. One of us is gluten-sensitive, but this wasn't a problem. The courses were excellent, and our server spoke English and was able to explain the various dishes. We really enjoyed the dining experience.

“Not What I Expected But Still Wonderful”

To start, if you're coming to Taian to have a typical "Michelin rated restaurant" experience, you should reset your expectations. It is a great restaurant and we enjoyed it thoroughly, but it isn't what we've typically had from that style of restaurant. The food was universally excellent, and my s...ense of things is that the vision of Taian is to provide a very high level of traditional and seasonal Japanese cuisine. We had dishes that were absolutely phenomenal, and some things where I just didn't really like it. Not that it was poorly prepared, but it just wasn't something that was to my palate. There are two quirks of the menu. The first is that while it's mostly a tasting menu, you do get to pick the main course from a list. I went with the short rib that was mentioned by others here as being good, and it was delicious. The second difference is that you can choose the number of pairings. In our case we went with the full pairings which basically adds a glass of champagne to the beginning of the meal. The champagne was more of a bonus pre-dinner drink that came slightly before the first course and its pairing of a glass of sake. Overall I was happy with the choice even if it wasn't exactly what I'd expected when I booked it. Arguably that's a good thing as I think it was something new to me, which is part of the point of traveling to someplace you don't know.

“Mixed feeling…”

Dinner last night at this Michelin 3 stars was a mixed feeling. I walked into the restaurant thinking that it’s the wrong address. It seems a bit run down, only the chef with his assistant and the wife (server) for the 16 seaters restaurant. The food didnt comes with an impressive presentation, ...but thanks goodness some of the dishes hit the spot (the main course which grilled on charcoal) The chef didn’t talk or trying to speak but occasionally smile at you. I still wonder how they got the 3 but overall a pleasant dinner.
