English Reviews (Reviews Total Language : 38 reviews)
This restaurant was recommended to us by someone who visited earlier this year. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! This is a small restaurant with only 9 counter seats where you can see the chef prepare all the menu items. It is tucked away on a side street so it is a little diff...icult to find - Google was very helpful! As a tourist, they require you to book via your hotel so we asked our hotel concierge to make the booking for us. We were the only foreigners dining there when we visited. The staff don't speak fluent English however they were able to explain what most dishes were and when they couldn't they had a Japanese-English dictionary handy to help with translation! They catered to dietary requests - for example I don't like spicy food so they gave me alternative sauces to use when the dish required them. It is a set menu of skewered items, a style we have never had before but found very interesting. It may seem simple but most dishes were very delicate and likely difficult to prepare - for example fish eggs wrapped in seaweed, then deep fried. We had 15 bite-sized courses but left full. There is a good selection of wine and scotch. It is not cheap but well worth it for the experience.

Delectable and nicely presented kushiage (deep fried skewered food) from chef (Ms.Takako) who always pays attention to every detail. Good selection of wine. Attentive yet friendly service created warm atmosphere in this compact restaurant.

“Good meal, not perfect. ”
First off, very cool to see a female chef- a first for me to see in Japan. Some yummy skewers, interesting combos, some less so, but not sure how much this type of food can be elevated. Still, a very enjoyable meal.

“Very good kushikatsu”
Wasabi is a very small kushikatsu Restaurant near Namba station. If it was not for Google map we would have missed it. They can only seat about 8 out 9 people. Their kushikatsu is very good. Many of them are vegetables mixed with meat or seafood. I liked their uni and gluten roll appetiser and they ...small squid fried. It is expensive but it is good. They also speak some English and they do take reservation from hotel

“tiny but tremendous”
we went for an early dinner as we had a flight to catch and were very glad that they opened at 5pm on a sunday. by the time we arrived 5 minutes past the hour, the tiny counter was almost full and service was already in full swing. Very pleasant staff who amazingly managed in such cramped conditions... to serve a profusion of delights. Sorry that we ran out of time and space to completely finish all the courses available!
