“cozy, exquisite, sophisticated, and tasty!”

each dish was meticulously presented beautifully and made with the best ingredients. i made a reservation about a month or so before on their website. the location is not hard to find because of google but there is no english sign so please look for the japanese/chinese characters of the restauran...t. taxi had no problem finding the restaurant. there are 3 price points available for the kaiseki meal and we opted for the middle price point. there was a small group next to us who got the top price point so i was able to compare a little bit. notably, they got an additional meat course (maybe some type of miyazaki or kobe beef?) and the final rice dish for them was crab rice while we had salmon egg (ikura) rice. they also got a small paper bag with a gift (perhaps a pastry or dessert of some sorts but i don't know). the rice dish was very good and you can get more bowls if you are still hungry. the main chef and sous chef are both excellent and very skilled. the overall environment is formal yet friendly. i highly recommend this restaurant for a traditional osaka kaiseki meal!

“Intimate and dazzling”

Sitting in front of the chef as he prepared a spectacular meal was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The combinations of flavours and textures were built up thoughtfully in each dish, giving a varied gastronomic experience from course to course.

“Very good but not excellent”

My cousin and I found the food was good but not excellent. Overall it was such an experience - authentic Japanese food in a typical small counter kitchen with only 8 seats with 4 chefs/sous chefs. Nice to be able to watch chefs preparing and presenting food. Every dish was like a piece of art. The c...rockery was beautiful too. Service was good. Unfortunately we could not speak Japanese otherwise we would have learnt a bit more about the dishes. They had one sous chef with a bit of English to go over each dish. We followed Google Map so no problem getting there, however, once there we were not too sure which restaurant it was as the restaurant sign was in Japanese :-(, however, we asked friendly people in the neighbourhood and they showed us there.

“Wonderful Kaiseiki Luncn”

Reservations were easily made on their website. On arrival, they already have the table ready. It was just us and another lady for lunch on a thursday. All the courses were amazing. You can see the effort the chef put into each dish. It was nice to be seated at the counter as you can see all the dis...hes being put together. We had an assistant who explained to us what went into each dish. The whole lunch experience took just over an hour and we had a wonderful experience.

“An expert and honest Japanese kaiseki experience”

I made a lunch reservation smoothly and fuss-free using the restaurant's web site. The restaurant is not in a neighbourhood popular with tourists, but the location marked in Google Map is accurate. Chef Toru Kitagawa was at hand to put together the dishes, so that the next dish is in time as you fin...ish the last. The first dish was raw scallop with sesame sauce. The mollusc was fresh and excellent. The second was a 5-parter including shrimp and eel. The third was a soup with a piece of eel pike and a lightly fried potato croquette. There was a small piece of yuzu rind that produced an intense flavour when bitten. Tuna and squid sashimi came next. It was a treat seeing the assistant cook carefully preparing the wasabi paste in front of our eyes. Next was steamed conger pike. Amazingly, every piece had exactly ten cuts to render the small bones eatable. Octopus, sea urchin (sweet and creamy) and a Chinese yam paste followed. Altogether, lunch consists of seven courses, with rice (cooked with corn) and pickles traditionally ending the meal. The remaining rice was made into balls for takeaway. My over-riding impression was of expertise, simplicity and top-quality ingredients. The technique was understated and quietly impressive. The chef saw us off at the doorway, remaining there until we walked a great distance off. Do not miss this Michelin-starred restaurant.
