“Good place to try local oysters”
We wanted to sample the local oysters so decided to give this restaurant a try. We opted for a dinner set which includes selection of oysters in different style: raw, grilled and deep fried. Turned out only two types of local oysters were available; a bit bland but good texture. Also ordered some... pasta with fish source which tasted great but portion was very small. Finally ordered a seafood paella which tasted like risotto, not impressed. Good view of the harbour. Overall pretty good.

“Great local oysters from Hyogo!”
The view from the restaurant is great with the Port Tower and Oriental Hotel in the background. Great for couples. It’s not the greatest place but you get fresh local oysters from Hyogo. The portions are small but typical of Japanese oyster bars. Expect to pay 7,000 yen or more per person. The ...food was good for the price. Maybe they could have a few more staff members?

“My first experience”
This was my first visit to Kobe, and my first meal was is the Oyster Bar. Overall experience was ok, nice view over the harbour and the rest nothing extra ordinary. The oysters was very fresh, right size with good texture, just maybe a little bit lack of the sea taste. The shrimps was beautiful, chi...li popcorn, deep fried. And you should try the carpaccio using fresh fish of the day.

“Great Views but Otherwise Rather Average”
We decided to spend our last night in Japan at Harborland, Kobe, looking out at the city lights. One of us had been hankering for oysters, so we eventually settled on The Oyster Bar Kobe. Overall, it was at best an average experience. It will cost you $16 (1600 yen) for three oysters, which were ta...sty enough but nothing special. The oyster and bacon pasta was better but the pasta itself was the weak link. The squid salad skimped on the squid and was heavy on lettuce. Basically, you are paying for the views, which are impressive, but you can see the Kobe Tower and river front without paying these prices. Also, the aggressive hip-hop music was a a weird choice for us. Surely some chilled out lounge music would have enhanced the mellow green and blue city lights vibe better? Finally, the service was churlish at worst and indifferent at best.

“Nice views over harborland, service can be improved”
The Oyster bar in Harborland left us with a mixed feeling. As such quality of food and drinks was OK. Views over Harborland are very good from here, so that's also a plus. Yet we found service to be below what we're used to in Kobe: a bit erratic, difficult to get attention even when the bar was onl...y 30% full. So we might go there again, yet will be aware of what to accept from a service perspective.
