“Michelin 1 star - tasting menu”
This tiny place (10 seats) features a Michelin starred chef of some fame. You must order your tasting menu in advance at the time you make a reservation. We did the 10.000 yen version (in the middle of the pricing). It was exclusively seafood, but other diners who had opted for the more expensive... version recd a meat course too. English is limited here and at times they showed us a cook book so what we were eating. In their respect the language barrier do detract from he Michelin experience. Some adventurous fare: umi, blowfish, sea eel and I’m pretty sure a jellyfish broth I didn’t eat. Alcohol is available and is included, but I and most diners had water and tea with their meal.

The restaurant is tiny and nondescript but the food is simply spectacular!! The restaurant literally can seat a total of about 8 people in all and is actually not easy to find. They offer a choice of three menus ranging from 8000+ yen to 16000+ yen. We chose the basic one which included a seven cour...se meal with each course being prepared fresh by the chef. The food simply burst with the most delightful flavours. We couldn’t eat a morsel more than what had been served to us with immaculate presentation and a great deal of passion. You don’t need to go to a fancy Michelin star restaurant. This restaurant has just fab, authentic Japanese cuisine! Note that drinks are not included in their fixed meal price, but they offer you a liquor menu with options. It’s worth the price you pay. It was not a meal, but rather a culinary experience!

Highly recommend this gem of a tiny restaurant in the Gion area. The food is innovative Japanese, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented in an artful variety of ceramics and glassware that are as appealing as the food itself. Service is seamless and gracious. Most of the seating is a 'bar'... where diners have the pleasure of watching the expert chefs in action.
