Horyuji Temple near of gourmet restaurant list

"Horyuji Temple" is a temple which is said to be built by Prince Shotoku and Empress Suiko in 607, with the prayer for the cure of Emperor Yomei's disease. It is also known as the oldest wooden building in the world which is still in existence. In 1993 it was registered for the first time in Japan to the World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is devided into two cathedrals; West cathedral including "Five-storied pagoda" and the "Main hall", and East cathedral including "Yumedono". There are buildings and a lot of treasures made in each period. It is about 20 minutes' walk from JR Horyuji Station. Or you can take a bus bound for Horyuji Gate, and get off at Horyuji Gate. From Kintetsu Nara station, there is a bus bound for JR Oji station or Horyuji. You can get off the bus at Horyujimae.
