Sensoji Temple originates from the Buddhist statue that was caught in a net of fishermen in Sumida river about 1400 years ago. It is said that its answers for praying have been the greatest in all time and people believe that every desire is granted. Especially a visit on July 10th is popular since visitors can get answers for 46 thousands days of visits at once. At a spiritual-celebrating event for chrysanthemum held on October 18th, people pray for their longevity with a charm of chrysanthemum leaves and flowers offered by children from kindergartens, in tribute to Chinese historical event. Furthermore, the first Goshuin stamp given here during Edo 33 Kan-non tour and Omikuji are also popular. Asakusa, which developed with its center Sensoji, was the largest town through Edo period until Ginza started showing up by opening of railways. The temple lit up expresses the strength of it during such period.
