Kariya Restaurant Guide

Kariya City is located roughly in the center of Aichi Prefecture. It can be reached in approximately one hour by car from Nagoya. While the city has many factories to do with automobile-related industries that have the most cutting-edge technologies, it also has an abundance of natural areas such as one of Japan's designated natural monuments, Kozutsuminishi Pond, and its Rabbit Ear Irises, as well as the expansive Suhara Park.At Mississauga Park, which was created to commemorate friendship between Kariya's sister city, Mississauga in Canada, visitors can enjoy flowers such as Moss Phlox and a rose garden throughout the four seasons. The local specialty is a flattened udon (noodle) called "Imokawa Udon".It can be seen from the fact that it appears in a variety of literature that it's a long-loved comfort food. In "Tokaidochu Hizakurige (Shank's Mare)", Imokawa's local speciality is described as being noodles. There is a theory that it could be the origin of kishimen, a flat noodle that is popular throughout Japan.Another specialty product is kiriboshi daikon (sliced and dried daikon radish). The sight of washed and thinly sliced daikon radish drying in the sun is a common sight during the winter.
