Kokurakita Ward Restaurant Guide

Kokura City's Kita Ward, the urban center of Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka Prefecture. It has been a hub for foot traffic since ancient times, and it is now the Kyushu stopping point for the Sanyo bullet train and many other rail lines, as well as connections to the Kitakyushi City monorail. On the north side of Kokura Station is the "International Conference Center" as well as many large hotels, making it a popular place for holding international conventions. On the south side are many office buildings and shopping centers - the largest among them is the enormous River Walk Kitakyushu with a variety of different commercial establishments. These include not only clothing stores and restaurants, but also theaters, cinemas, art galleries, TV stations, newspaper companies, and university campuses. Nearby is the symbol of Kokura: Kokura Castle. Kokura castle was constructed in the mid-13th century, with the castle walls and tower added in early modern times. The castle is now home to the elegant Kokura Castle Gardens, with lovely parks and traditional wooden buildings, and Katsuyama Park, popular with the locals for cherry blossom viewing, as well as a memorial museum dedicated to the famous Japanese novelist Seicho Matsumoto.
