Itami Restaurant Guide

In the southeastern part of Hyogo Prefecture, surrounded by the Mukogawa and Inagawa rivers, and known for the Osaka (Itami) Airport, this town has ancient history, with its symbol, Koya-ike, built in the Nara Period.This pond is home to many birds rarely seen in urban centers, and is a stopping point for migratory birds as well.Itami is famous for sake. It is said to be the origin of refined sake and was extremely popular among sake lovers in the Edo Period, with 72 sake breweries in its heyday. Though there are only two breweries remaining, sake is still a local specialty of Itami.The Itami Sky Park is adjacent to Itami Airport's runway and is a popular spot for watching planes come and go. Between the Hankyu Itami Station and JR Itami Station is an important cultural zone, home to many historical buildings, city art galleries, and craft centers.
