Yao Restaurant Guide

The city of Yao, located in the east-central part of Osaka Prefecture.It is known as a "manufacturing town", similar to Higashi-Osaka.The city ranks top nationwide in the production and shipment of such things as toothbrushes, metal products and electronic equipment.The city exceeds Higashi-Osaka in the value of products shipped, and ranks among the top three.Yao is said to be the home town of "Kawachi Ondo" folk music, which is used on the Bon Odori dance, and hosts the Yao Kawachi Ondo Festival in August every year.The city holds large parades and Bon Odori dances, which bustle with large crowds of local people.Yao Edamame is also a specialty product, noted for its large bean size and sweetness.The Yao Wakagobo burdock can be eaten whole: leaves, stems, and roots.It has drawn attention as a health food rich in dietary fiber and iron.The Yao Airport is located south of the city, and serves as a garrison for the Ground Self Defense Force, and is also used for Cessna scenic flights.Sightseeing flights which cover Osaka, Nara, and Kyoto are available, and are popular among couples.
