Daikan-Yama Restaurant Guide

From long ago Daikanyama in Tokyo's Shibuya ward has been home to massive samurai estates, merchant mansions, and foreign embassies. In the 2000s Daikanyama became a premier residential address, but some few people are aware that it has always been a place for luxurious real estate. It is home to the now-demolished Dojunkai Daikanyama Apartments. In 2010 Daikanyama T-SITE opened on the site of the former Tokugawa mansion, lending a new face to the district. The brand new, refined and urban-style Tsutaya bookstore inside has become a trending topic in the city. The refined building and its atmosphere are perfectly complemented by the hillside terrace next door. The annual autumn event, the Dakanyama Sarugaku Festival, takes place on the hillside terrace, a Tokyo tradition.Close to 10,000 people attend this festival, which features not only traditional and modern artistic performances, but also a wide variety of local workshops, books, agricultural products, and crafts at its popular marketplace.
