Yurakucho / Hibiya Restaurant Guide

Yurakucho occupies the area around Yurakucho Station in Chuo Ward, Tokyo. It neighbors Ginza, separated only by the Tokyo Expressway.Located to the southeast of the Imperial Palace, the area is also known as "OMY," and appellation that combines Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho. One of the area's landmarks is Yurakucho Marion Building, home to department stores such as Lumine and Hankyu, and to the Marunouchi Piccadilly cinema. On the opposite side of the station is the Bic Camera Yurakucho branch. Many restaurants and bars offering cheap and tasty fare are crowded under the railway tracks. At night, they are busy with people enjoying a drink on their way home from work.Hibiya forms the area along Hibiya Dori from Yurakucho to Uchisaiwaicho. Japan's very first electric traffic signals were installed at the Hibiya intersection. During the Meiji period, the area was home to the Rokumeikan and a social club known as the "Tokyo Club." These were places where high society socialized. These days, Hibiya forms one of the capital's prominent business districts. Hibiya Park boasts facilities such as an open-air concert hall and Hibiya Kokaido Public Hall. Visitors to the park can enjoying viewing flowers and plants during each and every season of the year. The Imperial Hotel, which was Japan's first Western style hotel, is located nearby.
