“A relaxing dinner after a long day”
There are not many dining options near the Richmond Hotel Sendai. This one, on the first floor, was pleasant. The cuisine is yoshaku--Western food with a Japanese twist--familiar but just a bit different. An English-language menu is available, but the Japanese-language picture menu was just fine.... Perhaps you ought to be a bit adventurous when visiting Japan, but sometimes you just want a nice relaxing meal. This suited me fine. I ate here two of my three nights.

“Basic Hotel Restaurant”
This is my first experience with the Royal Host restaurant chain and although I really dislike family chain restaurants in Japan I kinda liked this one. The salads are very basic, as is most of the food. They are famous for their take on Japanese curry. (You can buy their Rue at the til) I was not o...verly impressed but my Japanese colleague loves it. I think he also loves all family restaurants so his opinion is tainted. The service is excellent and is done by people who seem to care for what they are doing. So from a foodie perspective not so good but from an experience I would say excellent. The breakfast buffet is very good. All the Japanese basics and some western ones too. If you are looking for the great Canadian breakfast this is not the place. They have pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns but they are extremely basic and fill you up but don't make you wanting more. The Japanese breakfast is much better. Two types of Fresh grilled fish, really tasty miso soup, the omelet was a little weak but still decent. I recommend this to the business traveler that is staying at the hotel for breakfast and for a quick meal not for any foodie or culinary adventurer.
