“Amazing food, but the staff behavior was disgusting”
Today, I had lunch at misachi-ya. I have visited this restaurant many times before, as the lunch sets—especially the beef tongue dishes—are very good. However, this time I experienced treatment that was extremely unpleasant and unacceptable. Although on a previous visit I was told that “beef tongu...e curry is available,” in recent visits, whenever I am served by a specific staff member, I am repeatedly told that “beef tongue curry is not available today.” As a result, I reluctantly ordered the E set (ginger pork, 1,000 yen). However, when I later received the receipt, it was processed as the C set (1,100 yen). Had I not carefully checked at checkout, I would have been overcharged by 100 yen. Seeing this, I also recalled that during my visit last week, I may have been similarly overcharged by 100 yen. This makes it difficult to believe that this was a one-time mistake, and it is clearly problematic. Furthermore, just before leaving the restaurant, I noticed that the customer at the next table was being served beef tongue curry. Seeing that an item I was told was “not available today” was in fact being served to other customers caused me strong discomfort and distrust. If this were merely a simple mistake, a proper explanation should naturally be provided. However, if such treatment is repeatedly directed toward a specific customer, I cannot help but suspect that I am being treated in a discriminatory manner. Precisely because the food itself is very good, these issues with service and billing are extremely disappointing. I have previously recommended this restaurant to foreign interns at my company, but frankly, it is no longer a place I can recommend to others. I strongly request an honest explanation and concrete improvements. If I am being treated differently simply because I am a foreigner, or merely because I order a large portion of rice, then I would like that to be stated clearly. In that case, I will not visit again. There is no need to make customers feel uncomfortable in this manner without providing any explanation.
