“For a moment I thought they were not going to let me in”
But they did and I was able to sit at the counter downstairs and proceeded to have an amazing meal. Service was polite and attentive. The food was perfect. If you’re in the neighbourhood it’s definitely a great place to go to and I had an amazing selection of Sake.

“Great Restaurant”
The food was cooked to perfection, the service was great and the ambience in the restaurant just created the best atmosphere for dinning. Will recommend this place without any reservations.

“Excellent food great experience”
Went here based on TA reviews, and I wasn't disappointed! Their thing is scallions and I never knew there was so much you could do with them. Has an English menu, but you will be missing out on some specials. We had the tofu, seared scallions, the Sea bream with green tea and the beef. All were exc...ellent. We ordered seconds of the tofu and seared scallions. The reason why only 4 stars is that the whole team was very polite, but not very friendly. They didn't engage us at all, despite it being a small venue, and we just didn't get that Japanese hospitality that we had come to expect after traveling here for 2 weeks. Would recommend, as food was excellent and reasonably priced for the quality (80,000 yen for 7 dishes and two orders of sake). Just an FYI as with many bars in this area there is a 500yen/person charge to come in. This gives you a small appetizer.

“Best Food I've Had in Japan!”
We discovered this restaurant after we had been turned away from another restaurant, Kai Ryori Hamaguri, which SavorJapan had raved about. They turned us away because we spoke English, no Japanese. For reals. Anyways, back to Onegiya. It had a very cool vibe, Japanese, but modern. The staff was frie...ndly, efficient and professional. There was light jazz playing. We sat at the bar and had drinks (they had Awamori, which is my favorite). We ordered a few dishes: The homemade tofu with flecks of chopped negi (leeks) and natural salt, yuzu pepper sauce, maguro bushi, and ginger, and soy sauce on the side. Really excellent. We also had ground chicken made into a log around whole leek. Sounds strange, but it was good. The sashimi was very fresh and beautifully presented. And we finished with grilled charred leeks. The food was as good as any Japanese food I've had anywhere (Sorry, Mom). Dinner was Y8,000 (about $75 for 2).

“Best restaurant I visited in Japan!”
My friend and I stumbled across this restaurant while hungrily roaming the streets of Shinjuku. I hadn't really enjoyed the fried nature of much of the food in Japan and when we saw they had some veggies on the menu, we decided to give it a try. Boy were we in luck!! This is probably one of the best... meals I've had in yearrrrsss! The chicken was so tender, the onions were cooked so well, and the duck was just fantastic! The grapefruit cocktail was also to die for. Such a wonderful meal! If you're looking for great taste, value, presentation, and quality, this restaurant is made for you!
