Funaosa

A convenient and affordable sushi restaurant for those traveling to Nokogiriyama. When exiting Kama Hanaya station, make a right when you reach the main road; it's a few minutes' walk from there (in the opposite direction from Nokogiriyama). We waited about 30 minutes to be seated on a Sunday afte...rnoon. The sushi was very good, especially the crab, and they offered a nice assortment including some less typical options.

Excellent sushi with local specialities eg fresh whale (2 pieces of whale sushi 400 jpy) , fresh lobster (1800 jpy for a small live lobster). Fatty tuna otoro , chutoro all excellent. Not cheap but good.

Kaitten sushi (revolving sushi) may not be rare to find neither seaside area or anywhere in Japan, but kaitens sushi restaurant serving Kujira(whale) is not so often can be found, so this restaurant Eating Kujira (whale) is one of Boso culinary culture despite it is harshly against by rest of the... world, and it is served at certain restaurant in Tokyo, too. However, at those Kujira specialized restaurant, one must order full-course meal with fairly expensive price while here at Funaosa honten, one can simply order 2 piece of Kujira sushi to try.
