We all have our "goto" spots. Places we want to keep secret from outsiders so we do not have to wait in line for a table if we just happen to drop by. With the end of my work assignment in Japan, I am revealing Chibo as one of those places. Even though it is a chain, this location has been particul...arly special for us. They are able to accommodate larger groups and are tolerant of children. It is a restaurant we often take guests visiting us from overseas for their last meal in Japan. The okonomiyaki never disappoints. The yaki soba and appetizers are also great. Not necessarily the best you can find in Japan but stress free for a foreigner. Service is efficient and the are accustom to foreigners so you do not feel stares of disapproval. If you happen to come alone, sitting at the counter and watching the chef prepare other patron's meal is wonderful entertainment and a lesson in Japanese tepanyaki cooking on a large scale.

For all of us who can't read Kanji, it is a relief to find a restaurant that also has Western characters/letters on the menu. The food was very good, too and the service was very good.
