“Not type of tempura we like ”
Karaage seafood Don - more so we don’t like this version of tempura as we were expecting the flaky type - tasted good but we prefer the flaky type

“Vegetable and shrimp tempura in thick batter”
After eating in this place and a specialist tempura place (see my other review here on TA) in the same week, there is no comparison, frankly, between the delicate, light but crispy batter I tasted elsewhere (admittedly at more than double the price) and the thick fritters served here. I understand ...this restaurant operates on several floors and not all have the same look and feel but on the 2nd floor the long white fluorescent lamps and plain tables and chairs did not add to the atmosphere. Correct service by the staff some of which have an excellent command of English.

“Veg Tempura!”
We introduced our kids to veg tempura. They enjoyed it. Very nice desserts too. For example, I had deep fried Manji.

“Tempura for vegetarians, too!”
Japanese friends treated us to a fantastic lunch at the basement Tempura Bar on our last day in Japan. Our reservation was for 11:30, at their opening time, and though a group of people had clustered by the door, we were ushered right into our preset seats and served almost instantly. The place is l...arge, beautifully decorated, and exudes class. Service was impressive and ever polite. The chef showed us a platter of the food he planned to cook for us and was amenable to making substitutions. Three of us opted for vegetarian tempura and it went well with the pickles, rice, miso soup, and tea. We had both salt and tempura sauce dipping options—all was yummy!

“Delicious, unique way to eat tempura dish”
This place has been around since the late 1800s, serving a unique way to eat tempura tendon, a combo of shrimp and other seafood tempura on a bed of rice and poured with a special sauce on top. Some ignorant tourist complaints the tempura comes soggy, duh! THAT IS THE STYLE OF THE DISH. Learn abou...t the cuisine history first before you give negative reviews. If you want the crispy version, order the regular tempura from the menu, don’t order the rice bowls. We both came here for lunch and loved it. The servers keep refilling our hot green tea, they speak limited English but their hospitality made up for it. Highly recommended.
