Taki

I found this location, but there's a different steakhouse there now. This one is called Gottie's Steak house. I wasn't able to actually eat there, however. I was there around 3:00 and was told a bit brusquely that the restaurant doesn't serve dinner until 5:00. Be aware that the neighborhood is a li...ttle seedy; the restaurant is ten steps away from an X-rated movie theater. I'll post a photo of the new sign.

I've been to Taki twice for dinner and tried their highest grade sirloin and fillet steaks. They don't use brand cuts like "Kobe Beef" but they do offer the highest grades of beef, giving the same quality for a competitive price. What struck me about chefs here is that they exude confidence withou...t feeling the need to put on a show. They listened carefully and accommodated my every need, including removing certain ingredients I didn't want even after they'd touched the hot plate. The amount of food in the course options is very satisfying and cooked to perfection. However, the miso soup served at the end was too hot and scalded my tongue a little, my only complaint.
