Sanagi Shinjuku

Happy go lucky American guy found this place, after coming off the train and doing some local shopping. The unique location, under an overpass, with outdoor tables to sit at. It was just fun to eat small plates of tasty food, drink beers and people watch, both locals and many tourists too. The stand...out here was the staff, with friendly, smiley and laughable employees, engaging in great conversation with some 'perfect' English spoken, for which I was very thankful. Oh...good music playing too.

The restaurant is located under the route 20 overpass, near Shinjuku station south station. It might be hard to find but located next to Newoman bus terminal building. They offer lunch from 800 yen and have open air seating. I kinda liked the Southeast Asian atmosphere in the restaurant.

Take your time looking at the 3 menus before choosing as there are wide variations in the types of food available. The chips can come with a very Hot salty mix. Try the octopus and wasabi for a local delicacy.

We were hungry but not looking at this particular time when we spotted this, as the title says under an overpass. The menu had a range of styles and we settled for a japaneae style fried chicken and rice. The small bowl was ample for a hungry man at 1500 in the afternoon. Beware the drinks though.... it was easy to slip from non-alcoholic to alcoholic and the latter are strong. The pricing was good and the service quick. There is no table service andcyou are expected to clear away after you finish. We went back a day later for dinner which was just as good.

Sanagi is good for having meeting, lunch, collecting photos, they have music non stop and drink bar (some juices, coffee etc), but the some food were so average, the price is not pretty cheap, but we like the concepts of this restaurant, different from others 😁.
