Yamadaruma

This small Japanese BBQ place was an easy walk from our hotel. We had a lot of fun cooking our own meal on the grill in the middle of the table. It gets quite smoky from all the grilling in the restaurant but they give you eye protection glasses for grilling that also help keep the smoke out. The st...aff was very friendly and attentive. The English menu with its diagrams is helpful and hilarious. It was a great casual dinner.

We came across this restaurant on our night stroll and we were super happy with the service, the literally melt-in-your-mouth beef, with reasonable price! The staff and chef are very friendly too... would come back if In Kyoto :)

We enjoyed the Korean food at this restaurant. We sat at the bar and watched the action. The owner is very friendly. We enjoyed ourselves. The food was good and inexpensive. I would recommend it for a casual dinner.

My wife & I were walking about looking for a place for an evening meal and came across Yamadaruma by chance. It smelt good (we were ready for red meat). There were no places immediately available but we were tired of walking and hungry so decided to sit outside. The wait was worth it. There is an... assortment of platters and we chose one and continued from there for several more. If you sit at the bar, the meat is sliced immediately before you. You cook it yourself on your own grill. Delicious! Nil Japanese from us and only a bit of English from them, but the guy sitting on one side of us took it upon himself to suggest platters. Lots of atmosphere (literally, it is very smoky) and friendly clientele (did the sharing the taking of pics with the young Japanese couple on the other side).
