“Excellent delicate dishes around a Yuba theme”
I had never been to a restaurant specializing in Yuba dishes before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was certainly not disappointed. The Yuba (dried tofu skin), prepared in various forms, was delicate and tasty. The rest of the dishes also did not disappoint and the whole experience felt like... fine dining on a medium budget. Will definitely make my way there for a meal the next time I am in Kyoto.

“Delighted surprise ”
Just walking around to find somewhere around the Kokisai Kaplan Station, we found Yubasen by chance. It was rather expensive than we budgeted but the decor and atmosphere were so attractive that we could not resist to enter. It was delighted surprise to find the restaurant. They had only set menu...s starting from 2,400 yen and up. From the beginning to the end, we simply enjoyed with different ways of cooking of yuba. Well recommended place to enjoy another Kyoto style dish. The restaurant takes only cash so this should be bit downside as it’s not fast food place.

“Tofu delight”
A small restaurant focusing on Tofu (Yuba). The presentation was beautiful, the food absolutely delicious. The entire experience made it one of the best dinners I have had in years.

“Delicious Yuba!”
After walking round nearby lake Takaragaike (beautiful trees, beautiful carp, ducks, turtles), it was lunchtime and a bit of research suggested that Takaragaike Izumi Yuba would be an interesting restaurant to try, and close by. So we chose the least expensive lunch menu, which offered 5 courses for... about 2,500 yen and were very impressed by the friendly efficient service and the delicious food, featuring yuba, the special kind of tofu and soy milk. We loved it, and liked the look and feel of the place as well. I wouldn't go far out of my way to come here - you might be disappointed - but as it was, we felt as though we had enjoyed a feast after our beautiful country walk. There's a very nice shop selling plants almost opposite; I bought a packet of burdock seeds to give to my brother...
