Hanahana

Tonight, a friend and myself ate at Hanahana.. and it was fantastic! Truly enjoyed this meal.. One of the best on my most recent Japanese trip.. The restaurant is located across the street from Nijo station going towards Nijo Castle tucked into the corner next to the Italian restaurant on the corner.... We had the "scallop and beef intestine" hot pot.. Give it a try.. well worth it. Don't over think the intestine part as it's truly the outside fatty layer. Just fatty goodness for the broth. The staff wss friendly and worked with us through the translation issues

Hanahana is an awesome spot worthy of a stop. We came early for a kid-friendly casual dinner. Around 5:15 was a perfect time to come with kids - calm before the crowds descend on this popular spot. The kids loved the hotpot shabu shabu experience. Our server Yuta spoke flawless English and even gave... us great recs for spots to try in Tokyo (our next spot). Apparently later in the night it gets packed and super fun -- we'll have to try it when we're back without kids.

In Kyoto, staying near Nijo Train Station and love a very good Hot Pot meal? Then look no more and eat at Hana Hana! This restaurant was right around the corner of where my husband, daughter and I stayed. We were greeted by a very friendly young man, (forgot his name, sorry) who sat us and explain...ed everything from what to eat and where to sight-see. We ate here twice and both times had the same style of Hot Pot with Wagyu Beef. It was absolutely delicious. We made reservations the 2nd time because this place does get very busy and the place is not very big! Thank you, Hana Hana, for serving top-notch food and having very friendly and courteous staff! :)

After 2 weeks of delicious food in Japan we hit the motherlode. This place is fab in every way. They say never go back...but I want to come again tomorrow - it’s that good!

Very enjoyable experience. Yuta welcomed us in and made us comfortable from the start. He gave us a great overview of our food options in exceptional English (best we've encountered thus far in Japan) and had the staff taking great care of us. We ate too much, drank too much and took all of his a...dvice. He even provided inside information on places to visit for our next few days here in Kyoto. A+ experience. Highly recommended.
