During our stay on Awaji Island, we received glowing recommendations for Sushi Kintaro. Unlike most conveyor belt sushi chains, this restaurant prides itself on serving fish caught the very same day. We arrived at 4:50 PM, ten minutes before opening, and found a line of about twelve people already w...aiting. Fortunately, we got seats as soon as the doors opened. Beyond the variety of sushi rotating on the conveyor, we could order special selections from the menu, including Awaji beef sushi. Our favorite was the salmon topped with sweet onion and mayonnaise—thanks to Awaji’s reputation for delicious onions, the flavor was exceptional. If you visit, don’t miss out on trying sushi with onion; it’s a local specialty worth savoring.
