“Counter Table”
When I visited, it was a chaotic day in mid winter, hitting zero degrees with occasional snow and relentless winds. The iconic Yatai weren't able to operate on all 3 days that I stayed in Fukuoka, which was upsetting, but then again, was great because I was able to meet Yashichi. The Kushiyaki were ...all delicious, but what hit me more was the creativity. I admire their beautiful use of Shiso leaves with the juicy pork. Great combination! A must try! I strongly suggest the counter tables, (if you're not visiting in a big group) as you're able to look, and choose your skewers from the neat display cabinet. Although, the staff don't speak much english, they were all so cheerful and amazingly friendly. It was a great experience striking up a conversation with the young manager! Such a great guy! I got there by taxi, and it was a bit difficult to find, tucked in narrow residential areas. But literally, I followed the amazing charcoal smell and found myself at the restaurant. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Fukuoka.
