“The famous chicken pot is delicious!”
This is a restaurant specializing in the local chicken pot, which is a bit like the hotpot but with chicken as the ingredients, and the stock made from chicken bones. The stock is white in color, and the traditional way is to first taste the soup by mixing with a small pint of salt and chives, in a ...small cup, before eating the chicken and the vegetables. We have ordered the set which included an appetizer prepared using the chicken skin, a side dish made from chicken shreds and other vegetables, and then the pickled shrimps, assorted pieces of delicacies, and the local small squid. All were quite tasty. The core of course is still the chicken pot. The chicken meat is very tender, and dipping in the citrus vinegar further brought out the flavors. Really wonderful indeed. And there are plenty of vegetables provided so we have a good balance of diet and not just having the protein. When we are done, the staff came and prepared a congee using the stock. Looking at how they managed the level of heat on the stove and when the congee was done, then switching off before pouring in the egg, there is a great deal of knowledge behind the dish and in fact this congee is the highlight as it absorbed all the flavors and is both delicious, warming, and fulfilling for our dinner. Even though the staff could not talk in English, we were able to communicate. When you are in Fukuoka I strongly recommend trying this dish.
