“Indulge in Delicious Sukiyaki Amidst Cheerful Company”
Karen is an elegant yet slightly pricey restaurant specializing in shabu-shabu (meat and vegetables boiled at the table) and sukiyaki (meat and vegetables fried at the table—pronounced "skee-aki"). We opted for a sukiyaki set menu featuring beef and pork, priced at 7,200 yen per serving. In additio...n to the meat and vegetables, cooked and dipped in raw egg, you also receive small appetizers, miso soup with rice, and petite desserts. You'll surely leave feeling satisfied. The delightful hostesses assist with the frying, ensuring the flavorful dish turns out perfectly. Meanwhile, laughter, conversation, and, notably, drinking fill the neighboring tables, where it seems businesspeople are holding informal meetings. The atmosphere is lively and a bit carefree.

“Premium ingredients at premium prices ”
Visited the restaurant for dinner on Thurs night, didn't make prior reservation and immediately have a table with tatami seats and place to place legs under the table. Good service as service staff responds to the call quite fast. We had fillet steak set, 3in1 meat shabushabu (chicken, pork and beef...), lemon highball and ocha. Pictures say it all, very premium dinner!

“Premium ingredients but not very good service”
The first time we had our meat and vegetables steamed in their separate wooden boxes double decker style. It was a good experience and everything tasted good. Loved the dipping sauces. Service was perfunctory at best. I guess the lack of English speaking staff is partly to blame. This restaurant ...doesn't deserve the 10% service charge add-on automatically, which is only normal in fancy hotels dining rooms.

“Enjoy Kagoshima's local meat”
According to their web-site, the restaurant is run by JA Kagoshima Prefectural Economic Foundation of Agricultural Cooperatives to promote their black beef (Kuroushi) and black pork (Kurobuta) and other agricultural products harvested in Kagoshima. We ordered teppanyaki course and cooked meals by ou...rselves. All dishes were very tasty and made all guests from US happy. I don't think there are any English speaking server available but is menu in English. The course ended with either rice & miso soup or buckwheat noodles. We all selected the noodles which were really tasty with great broth. The noodles is 100% buckwheat so very short noodles with tons of flavor. The restaurant is NOT inexpensive.

“Delicious pork”
The minute we checked in hotel at Kagoshima, we’ve tried to reserve a table for our group. However, it’s fully booked for two consecutive dinners. I though we’d miss this restaurant this trip. We run into the restaurant during the city tour on foot and luckily we got a table for lunch. We had tried... both beef and fried pork. All of them are tasty. We all satisfied with this restaurant.
