Yamashige

I had Ikizukuri set menu (fresh squid sashimi) on business lunch occasion. Squid was really transparent as it was freshly cooked. Squid tentacles was also served as sashimi in dish at first, then leftover of which was cooked tempura. We can enjoy two differently cooked squid, fresh sashimi and ei...ther tempura or grilled. Set menu goes with a couple of sushi as well, one of which is sushi of squid fin (Japanese call it squid's ear). This squid fin sushi is very seldom served even in Karatsu's squid specialty restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you wish to try fresh seafood cuisine. Yamashige is also listed as "Bib Gourmand" in MICHELIN GUIDE Fukuoka Saga 2014. Owner, chef and staff are all very nice and kind. The restaurant is just two-minute walk from JR Karatsu station. Good access is another advantage of Yamashige.
