“Interesting "French" experience in Fukuoka”
It was a business dinner with a large group of colleagues, so I did not choose the food. The funny thing is we start with a shitake tempura served in a plate decorated with dry mushrooms. Problem is I had the shitake as well as the decoration. Trying to be polite and to say something I declared that... it was ... rich in fiber. The guy sit in front of me was keep on chewing the made the woody mushroom, making the same mistake before someone informed us. The other courses were unexpected and actually very nice, like pan fried foie gras with truffles. Overall the experience was excellent, yet not so much French other than from some ingredients.

“a little gem!”
OK, you a French restaurant may not be your first pick when going to Fukuoka or Japan in general. But if you stay in the city a little longer like us and have sampled a lot of the great Asian cuisines (looooove yatai!), we do feel like a little taste of "home". A friend referred us to this little pl...ace on the river and it was spot on. Chef Matsuoka cleverly combines his elegant Japanese roots with the light Mediterranean kitchen. His colleague Mr. Kitano pairs vey nice wines with the dishes and service is crisp but very warm and attentive. What makes the experience even more special is the tableware from sculptor Toshihiro Kozuma. The food (and do not forget the bread) was really good and we had a lovely evening. Definitely an address we will visit again when we are back in town later this year.
