Akagāra

This place is technically an Izakaya but what they offer is much more than typical Izakaya fare. They highlight Okinawan delicacies like deep-fried seaweed (Mozuku) and Agu pork hot pot. You dip the thinly sliced Okinawan Agu pork in broth and lots of long onions and it is just yummy. Then you t...ake the broth and add Okinawan noodles - a bit of carbohydrate to make your tummy feel satisfied. The soup that you end up with is just spectacular. You order using their tablet or you can order directly. We had a larger group. They accommodated by putting the low tables together. There is dedicated parking nearby. Just ask the staff for directions.

We had a dinner there with my colleagues and it was delicious. Shabu shabu is the speciality (cooking your raw meat in a boiling miso soup on your table) but you will find some other dishes. Service is Japanese (means great) despite no English spoken.

So absolutely delicious. Come here hungry...very generous portions and helpful staff will guide you through the menu offering many local dishes Okinawa is famous for. This is a local joint, not well traveled by gaijin. I had shabu shabu, tempura....oysters. All amazing. Very fair prices.
