birdman

We arrived at the restaurant around lunchtime on a hot Japanese summer day. We were starving and thirsty. The interior was cool (in both senses), Japanese style izakaya+yakitori place, dark and air-conditioned (after the blinding, searing heat outside it was a true relief). The staff was friendly an...d prompt. We started with a cold beer and yakitori set, then ordered the "Birdman no karagae" (1,000 yen), half of a chicken, deep-fried to perfection. It was delicious! If you ever happen to be in Kumamoto, please try it. The prices are reasonable and the menu is (partly) in English too.
