“The meat was too salty”
We chanced upon this little eating establishment on our fourth night in Kagoshima and were wanting something a little different and thought Thai would give us that. We walked into this small restaurant and were offered counter service as three tables were reserved. We didn't mind and sat down, rev...iewed the menu and chose stir-fried chicken and cashews with chilli for two and grilled chilli pork for the other. Rice had to be ordered separately. While waiting for our food the table of four at a table an arm's length from me started smoking. We were not aware when we entered this place that smoking was allowed (as we had gotten so used to places no longer allowing smoking - different from many years back), so we had to stay as we had ordered, so I used the menu to fan the smoke away. The owner kindly gave me a fan which was nice of him and the other gentleman did stop smoking. The meal came out - looked lovely and nicely presented - but the chicken was too salty for me but may be okay for local tastes. I also thought the chicken tasted odd. The vegetables and cashews nicely stir-fried. Just the chicken flavour I did not like. The other meal was grilled pork with chilli rub and it was felt that it tasted more like grilled pork with a salt rub rather than a chilli rub. The meal was not expensive but for what we got and what we had been paying at other places we did not think it was as good value.
