Teppei

This place is THE BOMB! I want to take him to America and Clone him  It's a small place. Don't be bringing an entire bus here.  This is a typical small Japanese restaurant with small space to interact. He has a small teppan grill with 7 "bar" seats, and two other small tables that can be squeezed ...together. A booth - like atmosphere sets the tables apart from the bar and the front wall of the entrance is lined with different Sake bottles. It's the chef and the helper running the restaurant. Now that we've gone over the setting, let's get into the food. He started by giving this visitor some edamame, cooked on the grill.  Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The pod split part easily and the bean made it's way into my mouth.  We ordered the grilled broccoli. It came to the table formed into a crown with slight grill marks. He makes his own mayonnaise and has two varieties: great and better!  The mayo comes with chive sprinkles and the other one is mixed with round onion. oMg....how does someone make broccoli taste so good! Next came the wedge of cabbage.  By itself, there is no way this will taste good.  But with the flavor of his well seasoned grill and some butter, I became a fan. Sprinkle some sea salt on it to bring out the aforementioned teppan grill flavor and you're gonna wish you could take this guy and his grill home with you. Garlic Shrimp - Teppan Tasty! Succulent, tender, flavorful, and GONE. Sprinkled with chips of garlic and wow, those went down fast.  Now for the Kyushu-gyu...You can already guess what I'm going to say: Teppan grill flavor of the best raised beef in the world, and you're going to get the best experience of Teppan beef you've ever had.  He serves it with wasabi, garlic soy sauce, and sea salt add-ons, but I'm a purist.  For me to know what this beef is like, I ate it without anything else added.  Ordered medium, the meat was immediately ready to eat (not too hot), tender, juicy, and it melted in  my mouth as you chew it. Dessert - no...too full of good food to try. At least that's what I'm saying right now as I sit at the bar and write this in front of him.  I may feel different in 10 mins. When you're in Kagoshima and want to  experience the joy and appreciation of a small shop creating delicious dishes, come here.  You won't be disappointed
