“The sukiyaki was tastier than the shabu shabu. ”
Located in a busy mall above the Hakata station, Reservations a must if you do not want to wait on chairs outside the restaurant. Specializes in shabu-shabu or sukiyaki with set menus served by women in traditional costumes. Not a lot of English spoken.

“Sukiyaki to perfection”
There are not that many places in Fukuoka for sukiyaki. And if you are one of those craving for the beef to cook this way, highly recommended this place, in Fukuoka. The cost is about JPY 12500 for one. Full course meal in simple style, yet top quality beef. The steak for entree was cooked in supe...rb way. You get two large slices of beef from nearby Prefecture for sukiyaki. Tender and soft, but not too oily that your stomach can't take. I had a fantastic experience and a very satisfied stomach. Beware of the long wait during weekend. I waited one hour for the table.

“Very good sukiyaki or shabu-shabu”
This is one of the most popular restaurants on the 9th floor of JR Hakata City judging by the queue. If you do not have a reservation, first thing you do is write you name down on a waiting list put in front of the restaurant. A waitress will periodically come out to call out the names in order. We... opted for the sukiyaki course showcasing 3 types of beef quality (10,800 yen per head with tax). With this course we started with an appetizer, then the main sukiyaki beef and finished with a dessert. There is a little piece of paper to explain the appetizer as well as the origin of the beef (ours today was from Shizuoka and Tottori prefectures). Even the standard quality beef was tender and good, though the top-quality one was extra meltingly tender. The waitress will cook the sukiyaki for you. Service was top-notch and polite. It was a pricey meal for sure, but it was filling and satisfying. Do note that dinner attracts a further 10% service charge on top.

“Very good sukiyaki ”
My friend and I are staying in Hotel Nikko and Ningyocho Imahan in Hakata City is only a short walk away. Since it’s very easy to book by myself through internet, I didn’t ask the hotel concierge to book for me. We went for dinner and both ordered a three- way high quality beef set with three appe...tisers, three pieces of beef sushi, a mini steak, sukiyaki with beef and vegetables, rice with scrambled egg, miso soup and some fruits and desserts. Everything was delicious. The sukiyaki beef was from Yamagata and literally melted in the mouth. The meal wasn’t cheap but we certainly got what we paid for. Service was top notch. The lady in kimono cooked the sukiyaki for us. She spoke some English and explained to us all dishes. After we’d finished and paid our bill, she stood at the entrance to say goodbye to us until we’re out of her sight. Very good food, excellent service and nice ambience. Highly recommended. Some customers had shabu shabu which looked really enticing. If I go there again next time, I’ll give it a try.

“Reliable”
This is a chain restaurant that serves good Japanese beef. They have branches in many cities. This is the place to go for sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. Don’t need to order the top end beef. As I aged, I find the top end beef too oily and now tends to order the medium range beef. Highly recommended.
