“Excellent grilled Miyazaki beef”
Miyazaki is famous for its wagyu beef, and Kokaen is one of the most famous restaurants in the city to have charcoal grilled beef. I was alone and could only order the half-size set at 2900 yen. (All other sets are for 2 people or up.) It was simply 5 kinds of beef (rib, lean meat, diaphragm, sausa...ges and organs) on a large plate, but it was excellent. The taste of the beef lingered in my mouth for a long time. The marinating sauce was simply wonderful and helped bringing out the best of the beef. I am not a big fan of the sausages and the organs though. If I get to visit next time, I would go for a la carte and choose ox tongue, sirlion, rib and diaphragm. Those are the best parts in my opinion. English menu is available for those who cannot read Japanese. The staff can also speak simple English.
