“Affordable and delicious!”
We’re not too familiar with the automated ordering system, but when the staff taught us how to use it, it was a breeze! Choose English. Browse through the choices. Once you know what to order, insert money, press your choice, the press the green button below to get your change! 😊 I chose the large ...grilled beef for ¥890. It was really good! You can even get extra rice for free!

“Inexpensive, quick, filling breakfasts - easy to use vending machine ordering”
This is a good choice for an inexpensive, filling Japanese breakfast. We stayed at the Hakata Miyako just down the street and we walked here for breakfast each day. There are lots of options for breakfast and you really can’t go wrong with any of them. We had dinner here once too - tonkatsu, not...hing special, a bit dried out but reasonably priced and quickly served. After a long day, we didn’t want another meal at either of the two izakayas in our hotel, so this was an easy and convenient choice. The coin operated vending machine from which you make your selection is easy to master - the pictures are almost good enough for you to figure out what you are ordering. Be sure to look at all the options rather than jumping to select the first one that looks good. There was a side table with extra rice should you want more and pickles are on all the tables. Someone from the staff is usually available to help decipher the pictures if you have trouble. Especially when they see a gaijin trying to operate the machine, someone shows up from the back kitchen to help. Often, another diner will offer advice if no one else does. The restaurant itself looks like most other iterations of Yayoiken. It is clean, well maintained with white walls and wooded partitions. Pleasant and helpful staff makes it a no-brainer for a quick, inexpensive meal.

“Quite place with decent food and ordering in English”
Its a nice little spot. The meal ticket vending machine has multiple languages so it was easy to order food. The place is not huge, maybe seating for 30 people. Food came out quickly, and was freshly made. I ordered chicken-egg on rice (Oyakudon) and a meat side dish. Both were very good. What impr...essed me most was the quality of the food. The ease of selecting what I wanted helped me decide this is a place I would come back to.

“My favourite family restaurant in Japan”
Yayoiken is my favourite chain in Japan because the food is yummy and of good value. It is a family chain. Every time I visit Japan, I never fail to have a meal at Yayoiken. This is, despite the fact that I never take second helpings for rice (there is a free flow). Another fantastic chain by Plenar...y Chain! You buy your meal tickets at the vending machines, wait to be shown your seat, then pass your meal ticket to the waitress and without long, your set meal appears. It is excellent value if you are looking for a simple meal. Nothing fanciful. This time, on our last day in Fukuoka, our friend, David is super happy that he got his favorite tonkatsu before leaving for the airport!
